This beautiful native of India grows blacker on his back as he grows older and in winter.  The females and young are blond on the back and also have the white stomachs and legs.   The India maharajahs used to fight their captive Black Bucks and winners were draped in purple robes and jewels.  The Black Buck reproduces well in West Texas and can be maintained behind a standard height sheep and goat fence.
